Caring for a Child in Hospital
Please refer to the Preparing for Your Hospital Admission and Stay website section for advice on preparing a child for their stay at Adeney Private Hospital.
Caring for a Paediatric Patient
We understand that it can be stressful for a paediatric patient to be admitted to hospital. Please bring the things that you know will make your child ‘feel at home’ and comforted (toys or blanket).
All patients under 18 years of age require that ONE parent / guardian will stay overnight with the patient. There is no additional charge for this, and all meals and bedding are provided by Adeney Private Hospital for the parent/carer as well. All Inpatient rooms are private and contain a day bed where the parent/ guardian can sleep overnight with their child.
Childhood/Paediatric Nutrition at Adeney Private Hospital
Eating well is an essential part of your treatment and recovery.
The food service department at Adeney Private Hospital achieves this by providing a room services meal system which allows our patients and their carers to select and order their individual meals from the bedside terminals throughout the day.
As part of the meal selection process, you can build your own dishes. The patient and their carer can select individual ingredients and menu selections to create their own meal; just to their liking and at the time of day that they would like to eat. Nutrition and the appropriate calorie intake is vitally important for recovery and to be able to order the food you want to eat-when you want to eat it-is paramount in assisting with a child’s recovery after surgery.
Our online menu system allows Adeney Private Hospital to pre-load an individual child’s food restrictions (allergies or intolerances that are provided to us pre-admission) so that only safe menu choices are available to order at any time.
