Managing Your Discharge From Hospital

Going Home Safely After Your Procedure

For your safety and wellbeing, it is essential that you have a responsible adult/s available to collect you after your procedure and stay with you for the first night at home. This is a vital part of your post-operative care and recovery.

If you anticipate any difficulty in organising this support, please contact us well before your admission so we can discuss options with you.

Please note that travelling home alone or using rideshare or taxi services without an escort does not meet our duty of care at Adeney Private Hospital.

Discharge time is 0900hrs (9 am). For patient pick-ups, please use the underground carpark (entrance on Adeney Avenue) or the patient pick-up bays at the front entrance.

Your Discharge Plan

Before you leave Adeney Private Hospital, you will be provided with a detailed discharge plan designed to support your recovery at home. This guide will help you understand how to manage your care and what to expect in the days following your procedure.

Your discharge plan will include important information such as:

  • Instructions for taking medications and managing pain

  • Potential side effects of anaesthesia or sedation

  • Wound care and dressing management

  • Details of any follow-up appointments

  • Information on additional care services, such as community nursing, if required

  • After-hours contact numbers for clinical support

Our team will go through this plan with you to ensure you feel confident and well-prepared for the next stage of your recovery.

Discharge Medication

If Discharge medication is required, it will be dispensed by the onsite pharmacy – Slade Pharmacy. Our pharmacists on site will educate you on your medications.
